Is a little chaos actually good for us?
Some people thrive in peace while others thrive in chaos. For me, it’s the latter.
I’m not talking about the kind of chaos we create by making reckless decisions. I’m talking about the unexpected interruptions, the unanswered questions, the seasons that refuse to follow our carefully written plans.
Peace gives me room to rest, but chaos forces me to grow. It asks difficult questions. It exposes fears I didn’t know I was carrying. It pushes me to become resourceful instead of comfortable.
As a writer, I’ve noticed that stories aren’t born from perfect days. They come from conflict. Every compelling character has something standing in the way of what they want. Without that tension, there is no transformation. Maybe we’re not so different from the characters we create.
I wouldn’t choose chaos for its own sake. It can be exhausting, painful, and unpredictable. But I’ve learned that some of my greatest lessons, deepest faith, and strongest ideas have emerged from seasons I never would have volunteered to live through.
So, is a little chaos good for us?
Maybe not because it feels good, but because it reminds us that growth rarely happens where everything stays the same.
