What’s the weirdest coincidence you’ve ever experienced?
For me, it was a dream I had before going to work with a pediatric home-health patient I’d never worked with before.
In the dream, I was supposed to work with a little girl. I remember being somewhere that looked like a building with a parking lot. I was parked strangely, almost vertically across the lanes.
I also remember seeing a gate with what appeared to be a security guard booth.
The next day, I went to work with a new patient.
Almost immediately, something felt strange.
A man walked into the apartment I was supposed to be working in. He held the door open for me, walked toward the back, and never said a word.
I waited.
Five minutes passed, and no one brought the child to me.
I called the office and explained that I was inside the home but couldn’t locate my patient. They called the mother’s phone.
Her phone was sitting in the living room with me.
I cautiously walked into another room and saw someone who appeared to be a grandparent sleeping with a CPAP machine nearby. I tried asking about the patient, but they simply went back to sleep.
So I returned to the living room.
I didn’t feel comfortable walking into every room of a stranger’s home looking for a child, so I called the company again.
They tried every phone number they had.
No one answered.
Then I noticed a notebook that said the child needed to catch the bus at 7:00 a.m.
It was 6:50.
Still no one came.
Eventually, the company told me I could leave.
As I drove home, I passed through a gate where a security guard would have stood.
Then I ended up near an abandoned school building.
And once again, I found myself parked strangely, trying to figure out how to get back home.
That’s when it hit me.
I’d seen this before.
The gate.
The security booth.
The strange parking lot.
The school.
Even the feeling of being somewhere unfamiliar and trying to find my way home.
It was all in my dream.
I had completely forgotten about the dream until I was living pieces of it.
Coincidence?
Maybe.
But I’ll never forget that day.
