What’s the kindest thing someone has ever done for you?

Honestly, I don’t know.

I rarely experience people as genuinely kind. Too often, kindness seems transactional. Someone does something for you, but there’s an audience watching. Or there’s an expectation that you’ll return the favor someday. Sometimes there’s even a financial benefit attached to the good deed.

I’m not saying genuinely kind people don’t exist.

I believe they do.

I’ve just never crossed paths with many of them.

Maybe that’s why genuine kindness stands out so much when you encounter it. There’s something different about someone who helps you simply because they can, without needing recognition, repayment, or applause.

Perhaps one day I’ll have an answer to this question.

For now, I’m still waiting to experience the kind of kindness that makes you say,

“They didn’t have to do that.”
